Femi Falana (SAN) has commended the court ruling ordering the release of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenat, for medical treatment – Falana said allowing the couple proceed abroad for medical treatment had saved Nigeria from a major crisis – The legal luminary further expressed hope that court orders including that on Dasuki will also be complied with The ruling of the Kaduna state high court ordering the release of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenat, for medical treatment, has been commended by human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN). The senior advocate expressed the sentiment during a Channels TV breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily.
Naijabasic gathers that Falana said allowing the couple proceed abroad for medical treatment had saved Nigeria from a major crisis.
He said: “I was pleased to learn last night that the State Security Service announced that the order will be complied with and I think that is a good development.” Falana, however, urged that others in custody be immediately released.
He said: “I do hope that other court orders including the one of Dasuki will be complied with so that we can join the rest of the committee of civilized nations.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Femi Falana stated that the federal government would be making a mistake if it files charges against the convener of the RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore. Without mentioning President Muhammadu Buhari’s name, Falana said Sowore had briefed him from detention and that his first witness would be someone in government who in 2011 also called for a revolution, if the latter was charged. Buhari had called for revolution in Nigeria – although through an electoral process – as a presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
