Daily Trust reports that some sections of the media reported that Buratai had been replaced by Maj.- Gen. L.O Adeosun.
The purported reports came shortly after the announcement of Adeosun’s promotion to the rank of Lieutenant General, the same rank as Buratai.
However, a statement from Army spokesman, Colonel Sagir Musa dismissed the reports as fake news, adding that Adeosun remains Chief of Training and Operations, Army Headquarters.

“He still retains his appointment/ position as Chief of Training and Operations of the Nigerian Army. Any contrary information is baseless, fake news and should be disregarded,” he stated.
Buratai made the call in Maiduguri on Friday, June 28, at a news conference to herald the 2019 combined Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) Combat Support Arms Training Week. Both events took place in Lagos between July 1 and July 6.
Buratai noted that the army had been making progress toward the development of the nation. He, therefore, urged the people and media in particular should desist from negative report capable of breaching the peace.
