Tesla and SpaceX boss Elon Musk is now officially the world’s richest person. With a net worth of more than $185billion (£136billion), Musk has overtaken Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos – who is currently worth around $184billion (£135billion) – to become the richest person on the planet.
While Amazon’s share price has remained steady over the past year, Tesla’s has increased more than nine-fold.
On Wednesday (January 6), Tesla hit a market value of $700bn (£516bn) for the first time – making it worth more than Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai, GM, and Ford combined.
